REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: An appropriate recognized NQF level 4 (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification and Social Auxiliary Certificate.
  • Registration: Current registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Understanding of the South African social welfare context and developmental social welfare services.
    • Knowledge of the role of a social auxiliary worker within this context.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of human behavior, relationship systems, and social issues.
    • Implementation of social auxiliary work methods and techniques.
    • Ability to use appropriate resources in service delivery.
    • Work effectively with social workers and multi-sectoral teams.
    • Keep accurate records and compile reports on social needs and activities.
    • Provide research and administrative support to social workers.
    • Understanding of financial matters related to social auxiliary work.
    • Self-awareness of personal capacities, attitudes, and skills with a willingness to develop them further.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and support social workers with social work services focusing on care, support, protection, and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families, and communities.
  • Assist in addressing social instability within communities.
  • Stay updated with developments in social work and social services.
  • Perform administrative support functions as required.
